Founded over thirty years ago, El Museo del Barrio, often known simply as El Museo (the museum) is the only place in New York City dedicated to Puerto Rico, the Caribbean and Latin American art. It is essential for anyone who wants to know the Latin culture from a different perspective.

It was founded by Raphael Montanez Ortiz artist in 1969 and was created with one goal: to end the marginalization of many Puerto Ricans citizens in New York. El Museo aims to publicize and celebrate Latin American culture, at the same time becomes a reference of this culture in the city of New York and the United States.

El Museo also has a shop where you can buy souvenirs of all Latin American countries, a coffee/bar and a lovely theater

Exhibitions: It has a permanent collection of more than 6,500 pieces composed of pre-Columbian and traditional objects, sculptures, photographs, drawings, sculptures and others. The National Jazz Museum in Harlem is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the history of Jazz. Founded in 1997 by Leonard Garment, advisor to two US presidents, and an accomplished jazz saxophonist, Abraham D. Sofaer. It has played an important role in preserving legends like Duke Ellington, Benny Carter, Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, Charles Mingus, Count Basie, Billie Holiday and John Coltrane.

Each year the museum produces and presents more than 80 programs in the city, with the participation of hundreds of Jazz artist, to which more than 20 thousand people from around the world come.

It is also home to the widely recognized Savory collection, which includes more than 100 hours of live recordings of jazz legends of the City of New York, issued on the radio between 1935 and 1941. Tickets: The price of admission is by donation although it is advisable to ask how much is the suggested amount, children under 12 and Members Free.
