En el interior del parque de la batería, se destacan el Castillo Clinton, una fortaleza construida antes de la guerra del 1812, por la Major DeWitt Clinton, ahora es un monumento nacional. Además de tener una pequeña exposición de la historia, varios conciertos se llevan a cabo durante el verano. Castillo es el lugar donde los billetes para el ferry para visitar las islas Libertad y Ellis se venden. La historia dice que en esta zona, decenas de fuertes fueron construidos, todos ellos dedicados a defender el Puerto de Nueva York en el momento de la guerra en el año de 1812, de la que se dice que ninguno de ellos tuvo la oportunidad de disparar al enemigo. To visit the STATUE OF LIBERTY, you have two options: one through Staten Island Ferry which is free and crosses near the island letting you take pictures; you just have to try to locate in a good position in the outer aisles of the ferry and have your camera by hand. Leaves every half hour from a port situated very close to the official pier of the island. The second option is to buy the ticket at the pier, but the lines are huge, it is best to buy them in advance and online, http://www.statuecruises.com/  On the official supplier three options are displayed:

1. Buy only the ferry ride to the island, you can walk around, take your photography, visit the souvenir shop and fast food, also allows you to stop at Ellis Island, where there is a museum that recreates an audio-guide about epic lived by emigrants who were taken there and went to a court emigration were they decided if they were accepted to enter the United States or  rejected the whole family and have a brutal return.

2. Buy the trip to Liberty island, including the trip to Ellis island, entrance to the pedestal, is restricted to daily tickets, that’s the main reason to buy tickets in advance. You must climb 215 steps, there's not an elevator.

3. Buy the trip to the island and the entrance to the pedestal and climb to the crown, go prepared to climb 354 steps up through a narrow stairs, you can only come up with your ticket, camera and medication, other objects including wallet and keys must be deposited in a deposit box rental, also including Ellis island, to achieve this, you will need to book in advance, since the quotas are even more restricted.

You must claim your tickets in the ticket office at the park entrance, tickets for access to the interior of the statue as well, this procedure should do by the person who bought the tickets, presenting a valid ID and with the credit card you made a transaction. Tours are self-guided, the tour lasts 5 hours, of course depending on the tour you chose. Security to enter the dock is the same as used in airports, very strict, therefore, refrain from carrying the same items banned by planes. For all visitors that want to see the Statue of Liberty but that also want to cut back on extra expenses; your best option is coming to Pier 1, you can get there by taking the 1, which is the red line to South Ferry or the R yellow line to White Street South Ferry station. Remember, the Staten Island Ferry works 24-hours a day, departing every half-hour according to schedule. The Ferry will take you back and forth for free. Along with this ride, you will enjoy beautiful cityscapes of Lower Manhattan and a close-up of the Statue of Liberty.

When you buy the ticket to visit the Statue of Liberty, it's included in the cost to visit Ellis Island, of course, if you want to visit, it's optional, Ellis is a small island that has a lot of history, about 12 million immigrants cross this island from all over the world to locate in the United States, most of them stayed in New York. At the Museum of the island you can find letters, photographs, personal belongings and all kinds of memories of the time, also they are inscribed on the Wall of Honor, about 600,000 immigrants are there. Use the audio guide, it's free and try to make the tour based on the story that the narrator is telling you and imagine how the events occurred, it’s very touching.
