Founded in 1899, The Children's Museum of Brooklyn (Brooklyn Children Museum), is the first children's museum in the United States and for some the first of its kind in the world. Subjected to an expansion and remodeling to double its space, it was reopened on September 20, 2008, becoming the first green museum in New York City.
Its main mission is to engage children in educational and entertainment experiences through innovative programs, the excellence of its exhibitions, and interactive use of its collection.
The Museum encourages children between 2 and 10 years has develop understanding and respect for themselves, others and the world around them.
Exhibitions and collections: It has 4 permanent exhibitions: Totally Tots (9 sensory play areas, including sand, water and music), central collection (consisting of 29 thousand works), Nature's World Brooklyn neighborhood.
