Supreme Court-Appellate Division A century ago, the growing need for this status by a justice system more efficient and modern resulted in the creation of the Constitution of the State of 1894 of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of the State of New York; the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court was the first Judicial Department, is one of the four intermediate appellate courts in the State and has jurisdiction over the counties of New York and the Bronx. The court opened its doors on January 2 of 1900, the building was 'the first attempt in New York City to build a building in which the utilitarian and the artistic will combine to make harmonious whole, the interior is no less sumptuous, adorned with Siena marble, onyx panels, murals, stained glass and gilt coffered ceilings. The stained glass windows of the building of the Court of Appeal is one of the most impressive features, the building is equipped with 27 windows of leaded glass, 13 of which could be considered artistic with the rest of geometric designs more simple. The room contains the impressive ceiling dome and 3 windows on the north and south walls. The dome is composed of 16 radiating panels. The side windows have each one a mirror of stern making a total of 12 panels on the walls.
