The Queensboro Bridge is the most western of the four bridges over the river which bears a number of state route, the NY 25 that finishes in the west end of the bridge. Often, a bridge is called as the 'Street Bridge 59' because its end in Manhattan is located between 59th Street and 60th Street. Originally baptized Blackwells Island Bridge, and created with the intent to link the neighborhood of Harlem in Manhattan with the railway line from Long Island, the colossal covered bridge of Queensboro is one of the greatest cantilever bridges in the history of the design of bridges in North America. The bridge offers spectacular views of downtown Manhattan, highlighting in the landscape and the Empire State Building, Chrysler building and the building of the United Nations. The bridge has been immortalized by numerous artists and musicians, including the popular song of Simon& Garfunkel "The 59th Street Bridge Song/Feelin Groovy."
