Fraunces Tavern Museum

Schedule:     Monday to Friday 12pm to 5pm

                      Saturdays and Sundays 11am to 5pm

 

It is recognized as the oldest structure in Manhattan, the only museum in New York dedicated to the history of the War of Independence. Today ,visitors can see the rooms, paintings, artifacts and weapons from the colonial era that explores the revolutionary America, with permanent and temporary exhibitions.

Here an emotional farewell took place with the first US president George Washington and his troops, at the end of the Revolution in 1783.

On the first floor is the tavern and in the following two, there are exhibitions.

  • Friday and Saturday from 2pm and Sundays from 1pm and 2pm find free guided Tours.
  • If you are in the Financial District is a good idea to visit this museum, the entrance fee is reasonable.
  • Do not forget to visit the tavern located on the first floor.
  • Not a good place for kids because its topic may be bored.
