Shakespeare in the park is a set of Shakespeare's plays presented every summer at the open-air Delacorte Theater in Central Park; this is one of the best free events in the city. Usually, well-known actors are part of the cast, such as Anne Hathaway, Al Pacino, and Denzel Washington who have acted in previous editions.
This event has more than 50 years of tradition with complete success; Having Belvedere Castle in the background and a full moon in the sky create an incredible atmosphere.
Even though tickets are not easy to get due to its high demand, this is a great experience to enjoy.
Food & Drink: there are food and drinks areas where you can find sandwiches, hot dogs, beer wine, etc.
How to get tickets:
Traditional: Tickets are distributed free on the day of the show at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park from 12 noon. Every person older than 5 years will receive 2 tickets.
Lottery: Waiting in line for hours, it is not for everyone; in that case, you can apply for tickets in a daily online raffle; by taking one of these two options.
Distribution of vouchers in the 5 boroughs: A limited number of vouchers are distributed in each of the five boroughs (some dates) between 12pm and 2pm. These vouchers can be exchanged at the Delacorte theater tickets between 5:00pm and 7:30pm. Click here to find out when and where vouchers will be available.
Donation: With a $200 dollars donation or higher, you will get some tickets depending on your donation, for more information click here
Waiting list: If you want to have the last chance to enter the play, from 6pm admission will be given to people who are outside the theater, keep in mind that spaces are very limited, they only distribute tickets that were not claimed, One ticket per person.

The US Open is the modern version of one of the oldest tennis tournaments and with no doubt one of the most important sporting events of the world. The championship lasts 2 weeks and has been held since 1978, every year during August and September. This is an excellent program to do during the long weekend "Labor Day" a holiday (which takes place the first Monday of September)
It has 5 modes: Players compete in 5 different ways; individual men and women, double men and women and mixed doubles.
Location: Matches will be played in several courts at the National Tennis Center USTA Billie Jean King. At Arthur Ashe Stadium will be played main matches, at Louis Armstrong Stadium and Grandstand the secondaries will be played, to see the stadium map, click here.

It is better to use public transport to avoid parking costs, and traffic jams are frequent during the championship.
August weather can be very hot and humid, night games are cooler and generally more economical.

Most of these concert are outdoors try to arrive early; if you go during the day wear sunscreen and remember alcoholic beverages, glass containers, and pets are prohibited at these events.

The HONG KONG Dragon Boat Festival is an event that takes place on the second Sunday of August and is one of the most important celebrations of the year for the Chinese community in New York. This is an event organized around a famous rowboat competition held at Meadow Lake in Flushing Meadows - Corona Park.
It is one of the largest boat festivals of its kind in the United States and somehow commemorates a long tradition of rowing boat competition in China. The tradition developed in Hong Kong indicates that ships should be built as if they were dragons, a crucial fantastic animal in oriental culture. Therefore, the waters of Flushing Meadows are full of dragons that cross the waters looking for the first prize.

Parallel to the competition, numerous activities and events are developed for the whole family, such as music, oriental dance, theater, exhibitions of martial arts, etc. This is one of the most original festivals that can be enjoyed during the summer in New York.
This highly anticipated multicultural event features two exciting days of dragon boat racing, wonderful performances, and an ethnic food court.

For music lovers, Central Park SummerStage is always one of the highlights during summer. It tries to capture a diverse audience offering a large events which happen almost every day of the summer including both free and paid concerts (most concerts are free, except those for charity) there are several musical genres such as classical music, African music, Metal; besides of dance parties, live poetry, theater, ballet. For sure you will find a concert for your pleasure.

Our advice:
If you want a good spot, try to arrive early, Summerstage opens 90 minutes before each show, benefit concerts open 60 minutes before the show, Summerstage closes its doors once full capacity is reached.
Do not carry alcoholic beverages, bottles, coolers, pets, bicycles, or chairs.
If you want to attend a show during the daytime remember to wear sunscreen or hat. Those are outdoor activities.

Due to COVID-19, the City Parks Foundation is taking precautionary measures in all of our programs.
New York opens its streets for three consecutive Saturdays, allowing locals and tourists to enjoy the streets of New York without traffic; Hundreds of people attend this event to enjoy free activities like rock climbing, zip line and outdoor art.
You can't miss the waterslide, fitness classes, a dog park, arts and crafts workshops, or walking to explore New York City's parks with some of the most beautiful buildings; All of this is included in five (5) rest stops.
This is one of the most popular events in August and it's free.
Our advice:
For those who need a break, the route includes stops for bike maintenance or to cool off with a drink.
We recommend that you try to wake up earlier, that way you can arrive between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. To avoid crowds and heat.
