Columbus Day is celebrated on the second Monday in October; This year is celebrated actually on October 12th. The parade starts at 11:30 am and ends at 3:00 pm, this is one of the events impossible to miss if you are in New York city, in this period you can enjoy Italian autochthonous dances, dozens of marching bands, collection cars, and floats.
The tour takes place on Fifth Avenue starting at 44th Street and ends at 79th. If you want to attend the Mass prior to the parade, it's held at 9:30 am, at the St. Patrick Cathedral located on 5th Avenue and 50th street. The best area to see the parade is at any point from 55th Street to 65th,

The best option to get to the parade, it is taking the subway because streets are closed and there is no access for buses. if you arrive early you will ensure a good spot.
At 9:30 am, at the St. Patrick Cathedral located on 5th Avenue and 50th street, to get inside the catherdral before 9:15 you will need a ticket, after 9:30 entrance is free.
