Bronx Zoo

Wednesdays - Suggested Donation - You pay what you can.

The Zoo is located at 25 to 30 minutes from Manhattan, it's one of the biggest zoos in the world, with around 650 species, with 4,000 animals spread over 100 hectares in several habitats proper of the species. The place is a paradise for photographers, there are a few wonderful backdrops between beautiful animals, it'd seem like all the animals were "stars", among them there are rhinoceros, tigers, bears and giraffes, besides others. The zoo has different rates for different events, the experience will be complete if you buy the membership, with which you get to enter free for a full year to the Bronx Zoo, the Aquarium of New York, the zoos of Central Park, Prospect Park, and Queens, in addition to other shows and events. On Wednesdays, the entrance is almost free the zoo suggests a donation, keep in mind that is the day in which there are more people therefore the lines are sometimes exhausting. The park offers a package that includes the Butterfly Garden, Congo Gorilla Forest, Jungles World, transportation in the monorail, 4-D theater and insects carousel. To tour the zoo you can choose between walking, or use transport means, but you would have to pay for them, there are: a road train, a Skyfari aerial tram that offers a splendid aerial view of the park and a monorail call the Bengali Express that circulates in the field dedicated to Asia. The tour "experience", includes all of the attractions and activities that normally have to pay separately, as are the butterflies, the gorillas, the tape of insects, etc. , it's well worth it. Do not forget to go to the gift shop, the prices are not high, the food, on the other hand, is the one that is expensive, so we suggest you to bring your picnic and a good amount of beverages to save you money, there is also a way of saving by purchasing your tickets online. The Zoo has a good amount of tables to sit, also bring sunscreen since half of the park is in full sunlight, do not forget your comfortable footwear, the walk is long if you want to go around the zoo, the children are the ones enjoying this site. It's closed to the public on holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The exhibits of animals will be closed at 4 pm, in the summer it is recommended to arrive before noon, or you will have difficulties finding a parking space.

Our Advice:

To get out of the routine and the noise of New York, this is the place with many things to see and to do, the tour is entertaining and diverse, it has different animals from around the world.
