The parade features mermaids and other creatures of colorful sea expressing artistic creativity through the many handmade costumes adorning all who participate in this fun and enjoyable exclusive event Coney Island, the parade siren also incorporates a variety of other historical and nostalgic aspects, such as mechanical rides, marching bands and even old vehicles. Unlike most parades, it has no ethnic, religious or commercial objectives usually about two thousand people participate in this event, along with hundreds of thousands who visit Coney Island as spectators.

Our advice:

Be sure to arrive early enough in order to avoid the potential crowds that gather as the day progresses.

The Mermaid Parade begins at 21 West Street Coney Island and continues along Surf Avenue to 10th Street and then take the Boardwalk.

In Steeplechase Plaza, the parade will dissolve.

The Mermaid Parade no longer allow Motorcycles on the parade route.

Riding on top of buses without railings is prohibited. Buses handrails can not have more than 5 participants in the ceiling, without prior permission.
