Each year takes place in New York for one day a festival where museums located on Fifth Avenue opened its doors to be visited for free.
Festival programming Mile conforms the following museums:
El Museo del Barrio - 105 Street
Museum of the City of New York at 103rd Street,
The Jewish Museum Street 92,
Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum Street 91,
National Academy Museum and School of Fine Arts - 90th Street,
Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum 89th Street
Neue Galerie New York 86th Street,
Goethe-Institut New York Cultural Center / German - 83rd Street,
The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 82nd Street.
Our advice:
Most people start the journey from the Metropolitan Museum, located in the 83 street Fifth Avenue and work their way up, another option would be to start from 105th Street, where the Museo del Barrio and start decreasing the streets to avoid a little congestion.
Children can enjoy several activities such as chalk drawings, face painting, balloons, magic. etc.
If you are interested in only the museums, I suggest going on a less busy day. The lines to enter museums can be quite long.
