Brooklyn Bridge

Brooklyn Bridge crosses the East River, it’s a New York City symbol and also marked a milestone in history for using steel for the first time in this type of construction. Currently, it has two levels, the lower level has three lanes for each direction where the cars go, and the upper level is used by bicycles and pedestrians. The bridge walkway starts at the intersection of Tillary Street and Boerum Place. This entry is what you see from a car across the bridge, the second way to get to the pedestrian walkway is accessed by an underpass on Washington Street, it is two blocks from Front Street in DUMBO when you finish crossing, you will find many places with food and drinks. The bridge has become an image of popular culture in various forms, from cartoons to movies and television. It appears in several films, including “Tarzan in New York", “Fever of Saturday night” where John Travolta acts, also in" Sophie's Choice", “Godzilla “, " Deep Impact ", among others.

Our advice:

  • Walk through this bridge is one of the activities that should not miss, especially if you can enjoy a sunset! The best photos are probably towards the middle of the bridge because thus would have the center of the city as a background, it’s a pleasant walk from start to end, it takes about 30 minutes, the best time to go is on a weekday.
  • To remember the three bridges linking Manhattan and Brooklyn, ideally use a simple mnemonic trick, remember the acronym BMW, from south to north: Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge, and Williamsburg Bridge.
